Landfill Disposal

Cory Environmental offers waste managers environmentally safe facilities to dispose of waste at landfill sites and transfer stations across the UK. The company operates landfill sites in the North West, Midlands, Gloucestershire, Bristol and South East England.

The landfill sites process a variety of inert, non-hazardous and stable non-reactive hazardous waste from local authorities, land remediation contractors and commerical waste managers. Acceptable waste types vary from domestic, industrial and commercial waste to hazardous and non-hazardous contaminated soils.

Each landfill site benefits from a bespoke engineering design, constructed and tested under independent third party supervision to a specification agreed in advance with the regulator, designed to achieve and exceed current UK regulations.

Careful site design and operation while a site is active ensures that the effects of leachate and landfill gas are minimised and maintained within acceptable levels and to the satisfaction of the regulator. When complete, the sites are capped with an engineered impermeable barrier and restored to provide a valuable community resource, often in the form of a country park.

A proportion of the tax generated by taking waste at our landfill sites is returned to the community to support local projects through the Landfill Community Fund. For more details of the trust funding available from Cory Environmental please click here.

Waste types

General industrial and commercial waste
Our landfill sites accept a wide range of non-hazardous general waste including paper, plastics, glass, wood, metal waste from industrial and commercial processes, materials which cannot be recycled from waste transfer stations and domestic waste.

Domestic waste
Cory provides an innovative and diverse range of treatment and disposal options for local authorities.

Difficult to handle waste
Non-hazardous waste types such as powders, contaminated packaging and filter cakes are acceptable at all sites, subject to detailed information being provided about the waste. More information on difficult waste types accepted at the sites can be obtained from our Customer Services Department.

Contaminated land
As the Government places more emphasis on the redevelopment of brownfield sites, more and more land is being remediated. Our sites are capable of accepting inert, non-hazardous and hazardous contaminated land. Inert soil is used to restore the sites to uses such as farmland or public open space.

Technical staff are available to provide advice where necessary and can seek out competitive haulage rates for developers and main contractors.

Hazardous waste
With the number of landfill sites able to accept hazardous waste dramatically decreasing in recent years, Cory offers a centrally located facility for the safe disposal of hazardous contaminated soils. Ideally located to accept waste from all over the country, the site is able to provide very competitive disposal rates.

Customer services
Cory recognises the importance of high quality customer service, not only on an operational basis, but also at the enquiry stage. The friendly technical staff efficiently provide suitable disposal options and rates for waste streams.
