Riverside Resource Recovery Facility
The Riverside Site
The site of the development is at Norman Road, Belvedere, in the London Borough of Bexley. It lies to the north of A2016 on the south bank of the River Thames. Bexleyheath is to the south and the important strategic Dartford River Crossing lies some 8km to the East.
The main development area covers approximately 6 hectares and was previously the site of the Borax works. To the west and south lies open land, part of which was the former Ford Motor Company staff car park. Beyond the car park is the Crossness sewage treatment works and sludge incinerator. To the east is the Isis Reach storage and distribution warehouse complex.
To the north is the River Thames and on the opposite bank is the site of the Ford Dagenham car plant. The nearest housing lies approximately 1km away.
