Cory encourages staff across all its operations to undertake the qualifications to boost skills and raise standards and the East Northamptonshire qualifications are the latest success.
A total of 59 staff achieved level 2 National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) and were presented their certificates by Councillor Glenn Harwood MBE, Lead Member for Environmental Services, East Northamptonshire Council.
The training programme was organised jointly by Cory and the Council to recognise the competence of Cory’s staff and to help raise awareness of key waste management issues, such as health and safety, efficiency and productivity.
Councillor Harwood MBE said: “This group of staff provides essential daily services to our residents; they are important ambassadors for East Northamptonshire Council. It’s great to see so many of them take the qualification and do so well. Our residents will also benefit from this training as Cory’s staff will now be offering an even more efficient waste service across the district.”
Assessments for the programme were practical, with training performed on the job by Waste Management Assessment Services. Evidence of competence in key areas was recorded and advice and guidance was offered when needed.
Vince Kilby, Contract Manager at Cory added: “I would like to congratulate the hard-working staff who have taken the time to improve their skills. They have put a lot of work in to demonstrate their skills, knowledge and commitment to their job and now they all have a qualification to show for their efforts.”
