Trust funds new play area for Haydock children
Date: 18-08-2009

The Cory Environmental Trust in Britain (CETB) has provided the funding for a new all-weather surface at the Church Estate Community Centre play area in Haydock.

The play area, which is run by the Church Estate Tenants and Residents Association, needed resurfacing to replace the ground which had been worn away over the years and had become unusable in wet weather. The Trust provided a grant of £11,960 which covered the cost of the new all-weather surface.

Angela Haymonds, CETB Secretary said: 'Projects like this, which benefit the local community close to Cory's operations are of particular interest to Cory Environmental Trust in Britain. Since the local Cory Lyme and Wood landfill site provided the 10% third party funding, this is a true Cory project. The improvements to the facility mean that the children will be able to enjoy it even when the weather is bad.'

A representative of the Church Estate Tenants and Residents Association said: 'We are thrilled with the new addition to the play area, and are delighted that the Cory Environmental Trust in Britain felt it was a worthwhile project for funding. The play area is a kep meeting place for parents and children within the community, and the new surface means it can be used whatever the weather.'

The Cory Environmental Trust in Britain is an Environmental Trust funded with Landfill Tax Credits by Cory Environmental, one of the country's leading waste management firms, with sites all over the UK. The Trust focuses its support on community based projects.
