Cory Environmental Recycling Services has won a contract with Carlsberg's UK operations. The three-year contract will help Carlsberg increase recycling at both its brewery in Northampton and 14 distribution centres nationwide.
With Cory's help, Carlsberg aims to divert all its waste from landfill within two years.
At the Northampton brewery, glass and cans are collected for recycling and specialist Kieselguhr filtration bags are diverted to an energy from waste plant. At the company's UK-wide distribution centres, from Kendal and Leeds to Southampton and Torquay, Cory is installing containers for recyclables including glass, cans, cardboard and shrink wrap. Baling equipment is also being installed where quantities are large enough to make it worthwhile.
Carlsberg is a Danish brewing company founded in 1847. It is part of the fourth largest brewery group in the world. Carlsberg and Tuborg lagers are brewed at its Northampton brewery.
