Cory Environmental facilitates Perran Sands Holiday Park to environmental success
Date: 01-07-2009

Cory Environmental has had a long-term working partnership with the popular holiday destination and in 2007 the resort launched its recycling initiative which is managed by Cory’s Carrick contract. In 12 months the holiday park had seen its recycling rates double. The resort is now processing 12 tonnes of mixed recyclables per month.

For the eighth consecutive year the holiday park picked up gold at the David Bellamy Conservation Awards which are designed to promote environmental and conservation practices, including biodiversity and energy efficiency, at holiday parks across the country. The awards are given to holiday parks which have demonstrated a solid commitment to the natural world.

In addition to winning the gold award at the David Bellamy Conservation Awards, the popular holiday park was also recognised for the first time at the Green Tourism Business Awards where it scooped a gold award.

The Green Tourism Business Scheme is a national sustainable tourism certification scheme for the UK and is validated by Visit Britain.

Winners of the Green Tourism Business awards are independently assessed against a rigorous set of criteria covering a range of areas, which include waste management, recycling, water efficiency and biodiversity.

June Donnery, Perran Sands Holiday Park manager, commented: “We are delighted that our focus on environmental issues has been recognised once again with these important awards and to have been recognised for the first time at the Green Tourism Business awards gives me enormous pleasure. It is a great reflection on everyone involved in making the service such a great success, including Cory Environmental who have been working with us for the last eight years and continue to help us develop and improve our service. I am looking forward to working with Cory in the future.”

Alan Rogers, Commercial Sales Manager for Cory’s Carrick depot, said: “It is great to see Perran Sands Holiday Park recognised once again for best environmental practice and I am delighted to be part of their success, helping them to double their recycling rate. These awards demonstrate their commitment to the best environmental practices and I look forward to working with Perran Sands to improve and develop the service we provide.”
