Funding available for community projects in Rushall, Shelfield and High Heath
Date: 15-04-2009

A new charitable organisation is searching for funding applications from the Rushall, Shelfield and High Heath areas as it looks to begin its work supporting community and environmental projects.

The Highfield South Trust, established by Cory Environmental, will provide funds for projects including the restoration of historic buildings, refurbishment of community and sports centres, enhancement of woodland, riverside and other wildlife habitats or other projects that will benefit the community as a whole.

Cory has established ten similar trusts throughout the country, drawing on funds made available from landfill tax credits. These trusts have contributed £36 million to thousands of community and environmental projects over the last ten years.

Margaret Hayes, Chair of the Highfield South Trust, said, “We are delighted that Cory has helped us establish the Trust. We hope to support a range of projects big and small over the coming years in ways that will make a real difference to the lives of the local people.”

Jenny Doyle, Project Manager of Cory Environmental, said “The new trustees and committee are to be congratulated. It is wonderful that local people are running the Trust and Cory will do whatever it can to support them in putting something worthwhile back into the local community.”

Trustees were appointed based on their management ability and commitment to making the area a better place to live. Individual trustees Ken Maid, Sid Yates, Roy Portsmouth, Clive Bradley and Margaret Hayes are already active in the community, on a local resident’s committee and allotment association, organising trips for the elderly and fundraising for a range of charitable organisations.
