Cory Environmental, one of the UK’s leading recycling and waste management companies, will be holding a public exhibition to set out proposals for improving and refurbishing the Civic Amenity site at Smugglers Way, Wandsworth and to update local residents on the progress made in constructing the new Materials Recycling Facility.
This exhibition will take place at the Holiday Inn Express, Smugglers Way on Tuesday 24 March and Wednesday 25 March, between 3pm and 8pm on each day.
Cory Environmental is consulting on the Civic Amenity site proposals before submitting a planning application in April 2009.
Richard Wilkinson, Planning Manager at Cory Environmental, said: “We are planning to refurbish and significantly improve the Civic Amenity site for local residents in Wandsworth. These proposals are designed to reduce incidences of traffic queuing into the site at peak times, help boost recycling rates, improve the local environment for nearby residents and improve the safety and efficiency of the operation. We are also planning to provide a temporary Civic Amenity site at Feathers Wharf, next door to the current operations, whilst construction work takes place.”
Richard continued: “Working with the Western Riverside Waste Authority we are aiming to transform the waste disposal and recycling facilities at Smugglers Way for local residents. The construction of the Materials Recycling Facility, which will sort at least 84,000 tonnes of mixed household recyclable materials per year, is progressing very quickly. With the proposed new Civic Amenity site we will be able to deliver a much improved service to local residents.”
Members of the project team will be on hand throughout the exhibition to answer questions.
