Cory Environmental, one of the UK’s leading recycling and waste management companies, has submitted a planning application to St Helens Council to extend landfilling operations at the site for three years to June 2012 to enable the site to be restored to the approved scheme for a Country Park.

Wrexham woodland benefits from first Welsh trust grant

An historic woodland near Wrexham is to get a grant from the Cory Environmental Trust in Britain for essential restoration. The £62,000 grant to be paid to the Woodland Trust in Wales (Coed Cadw) for the Plas Power Woodland is the first grant to be paid by the trust to a project in Wales.

IiP is a national award that recognises organisations that improve their business performance and realise their objectives through the management and development of their people. Cory Environmental is one of a few UK based waste management companies to be accredited with IiP status.

New source of funding for local community projects

The Highfields South Trust has been formed to support environmental improvement projects in the Rushall, Shelfield and High Heath area. Local people will manage the trust and will select suitable projects in accordance with ENTRUST guidelines.

Essex Wildlife Trust chosen to manage country park

Cory's landfill site in Mucking,Essex, is to be restored as a country park in 2011. The landfill site is due to close in 2010 when restoration will start. Local residents will then be able to enjoy a 263-hectare park with an outdoor classroom and play facilities for children,nature conservation areas for protected species, bird hides and extensive network of recreational paths.

Cory Environmental has opened a new landfill site at Shortwood near Bristol. The site is licensed to take 200,000 tonnes of waste each year for 10 years - 2 million cubic metres in total.

Tactile recycling sacks for blind residents in Southend

Cory Environmental and Southend Borough Council have developed a new range of recycling sacks specifically designed to help blind and partially sighted residents in Southend sort their recyclables and residual waste. Approximately 100 people go blind in the UK every year and there are 3,000 blind and visually impaired residents in Southend alone.

Sainsbury's takes to the water with Cory Environmental

Sainsbury's has successfully completed a week long trial transporting containers on the River Thames using Cory Environmental's barges from a south-east London depot to its store in West London. On almost every occasion the supermarket found that the containers were transported more quickly than on their usual road journey.
