2000 to date
Cory’s operations continue to expand at increasing pace. In 2002 the Company signed an innovative £700 million 30-year contract with London’s Western Riverside Waste Authority (WRWA), securing the river operations. The contract included market leading features such as:
Funding of a five year £5 million waste minimisation and awareness campaign
Development of an 84,000 tonne materials recycling facility In June 2003 CECL opened a new landfill site in Haydock, Merseyside. Four years on, more than 50,000 new trees have already been planted to facilitate the site’s restoration.
Also in 2003, Cory moved into the packaging waste compliance sector with the purchase of Packaging Compliance Database Ltd. The business was renamed Packaging Datastore Ltd (PDL) and traded under the brand of Cory’s then parent company, Exel.
In 2004 Cory acquired the ad hoc waste collection business Waste Hire Services. Then in April 2005 Cory was sold to Montagu Private Equity and in August of that year, the latest Cory landfill site at Greatness in Kent opened for business.
In March 2007 Montagu Private Equity sold Cory Environmental to a consortium of long term infrastructure investors consisting of ABN Amro Global Infrastructure Fund, Finpro SGPS and Santander Private Equity, on behalf of Santander Infrastructure Funds l and ll.
While Cory’s individual businesses and contracts continue to develop, the concept of maximising the value of waste management remains fundamental to the Company’s philosophy as it continues to make major investments in recycling and alternative forms of waste management. |
